What to Expect From Training

At The Tame Wolf Obedience Training, I see every dog as an individual with their own personality, instincts, and voice. My philosophy is rooted in understanding — not control. I focus on helping dogs feel safe and confident so they can make better choices. Positive reinforcement is the core of everything I do; it builds trust, encourages communication, and transforms training into a partnership rather than a power struggle. When dogs learn through kindness and consistency, they don’t just follow commands — they thrive.

But lasting success comes from teamwork, not quick fixes. That’s why my approach involves both dog and human, guiding owners to recognize how their own energy and habits shape their dog’s behavior. Through patient instruction and hands-on learning, I teach people how to become calm, clear leaders their dogs want to follow. My goal is to create balance in the relationship — where mutual respect replaces frustration, and both ends of the leash learn to understand each other in a whole new way.

No matter what, I want you and your dog to be able to maintain what they learn after their training is over.

What Will They Learn?
A mixture of commands, self-control, and socialization can help set any dog on the path to success.
What Will You Learn?
Having an owner who knows how to speak "dog" is essential to lasting obedience - even long after the training is over.
What Will The Process Look Like?
Building Trust
I will start off the training process by focusing on clicker training and "watch-me's". This will give your pup time to get used to me, begin to trust me, and become accustomed to taking commands from me. During this stage (1-2 weeks), we will most likely go on short walks, but mainly focus on very basic commands.
A Firm Foundation
This stage will include teaching/fine-tuning your pup's basic commands (3-6 weeks). During this time, we will go on longer walks and focus on maintaining good behavior and obedience in public settings.
Working on the Issues
This stage will consist of any counter-conditioning and socialization your pup may need (4-6 weeks). During this time, I will be working to help your dog overcome any fear, skittishness, issues with other dogs/people, or any other specific behavioral issues that you've told me about but haven't yet been addressed completely.
Bringing it all together
This stage will ideally include the owners either coming to a group class (for no additional charge) or training with me in a public area (2 weeks). During this time, the owner and I work on maintaining obedience, discipline, and focus while in a public setting. The goal is to make sure your pup behaves for you just as well as they do for me, and that they continue to do so even with distractions and temptations.
